Several GADD members traveled to New York together on October 16 to tour the 50th Annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House. Each year interior designers transform a luxury home in New York into an immersive exhibition with each area showcasing the finest in furnishings, art and technology. This year’s show house was inspiring! Those who attended took many pictures. See below to see an image of their favorite spaces and why they felt it was so memorable.

“Who doesn’t “love a good Rhino cocktail bar!” – Tae Allison, Chesapeake Tile & Marble

“I LOVE cats so, of course, the custom tiger-themed carpet runner that ran up the stairs and along the halls of the show house home was my favorite and most memorable detail.  And when you closed the front door, there he sits looking out at the street!” – Lisa Tullai, Annapolis Interiors

“It was a close call between this room and the Writing Room, but the reason I selected this room is because of how it made me feel when I walked in.  I was immediately drawn to the large chandelier and really appreciated how grand and formal the room felt in comparison to the others rooms in the house.  It was almost like stepping into a palace!” – Erika Edomwonyi, AACC Interior Design Student

“I thought the bed canopy was a work of art.  The execution of all the bed/window treatments was exceptional.  I also liked the lower ‘chair rail.’” – Margot Lawrik, Drapery Design & Manufacture, Inc.

“So hard to choose – there was a lot to take in! The colors, textiles, tile, lighting, paint, wallpaper…… So, from a drapery workroom standpoint, I have selected the lambrequin and drapery (with velvet trim) that was in a tiny nook.” – Janice Andrucyk, Drapery Design & Manufacture, Inc.

“Bathroom with overwhelming styles, patterns and color mixing, working so well to create an energetic and fun boudoir.”  – Andrea Wheeler, Design Solutions Inc.
